I’ve been thinking about this for the past year. Most people I know spend much more time on facebook and twitter than anything else. If I write a blog post, I get anywhere from 15 to 100 page views and most of them won’t comment. However, if I write a “note” on facebook and “tag” some people in the note, it is more likely to generate interest and people are more likely to comment. I think it has something to do with the fact that people like their name to be mentioned – and others like to see what their friends are up to, so when they see “Joe Schmoe” has commented on “Susy Q’s” note “Pickles or peanut butter”, they want to check out what all the fuss is about.
So, what do you think, are blogs dead? Should I shut this one down and transition entirely to facebook? Maybe I’ll know the answer if no one comments (!). :)

Comment by sarah March 21, 2009 @ 2:06 amA good thought but many especially older salvos will read blogs but Facebook & twitter are not on their radar yet. I say do all 3 if you want to get your thoughts out there.
Just a thought.
